As we get ready to welcome your newest fish to school there can be many changes, concerns and wonderings. The Kindergarten Teachers will be hosting our incoming Kindergarteners and their families for Family Connections Meetings on September 2nd, 9:00 to 5:30. You and your child will sign up for a 1-hour time slot.
During this time you will:
- Meet Kindergarten teachers and School staff
- Tour the school

Learn about Transportation (School bus routes, Parent Pick-up/Drop off, or Safe Walking routes)
- Learn about school breakfast and lunch
- Learn about childcare options for before or after school
- Learn about school supplies
- Learn about how our school keeps your child safe
Caregivers/Parents:
After the tour parents will meet with a school staff member to give us some more in-depth information about your child and your hopes for their learning while in school. In addition you will be able to ask specific questions about school, sign up to be a volunteer and meet other parents.
Kindergartners:
After the tour students will receive a series of short tests in sounds, letters, shapes, numbers, writing, and other Kinder type skills. These assessments are a statewide requirement for all kindergarten students and the sooner your child's teacher knows their abilities the sooner they can meet your child's needs.
Kindergarten Kick-Off (Classroom Exposure):
In addition to the Family Connections meetings, our Kindergarten Teachers are opening up their classrooms on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th, from 9:30 - 11:00 OR 1:00-2:30 for students to have a “soft start” through our Kindergarten Kick-off classroom exposure day. Students will meet their teacher, visit their classrooms and meet some friends in a smaller class setting while also learning classroom expectations prior to the first day of school. This is a drop-off event. Parents will be able to sign up for the morning or afternoon session using the form linked below, during their Family Connections on September 2nd, and during our school wide Back to School Night on August 28th.

Mientras nos preparamos para dar la bienvenida a su pequeño pez a la escuela, sabemos que este momento puede traer muchos cambios, preguntas e inquietudes. Las maestras de Kindergarten recibirán a nuestros nuevos estudiantes de kinder y a sus familias para reuniones de Conexiones Familiares el 2 de septiembre, de 9:00 a.m. a 5:30 p.m. Usted y su hijo/a podrán inscribirse para un turno de 1 hora.
Durante ese tiempo usted podrá:
Conocer a las maestras de Kindergarten y al personal escolar
Hacer un recorrido por la escuela
Aprender sobre el transporte (rutas de autobús, entrada/salida de autos o rutas seguras para caminar)
Conocer cómo funcionan el desayuno y el almuerzo en la escuela
Recibir información sobre opciones de cuidado antes y después de clases
Saber qué materiales escolares necesita su hijo/a
Aprender cómo protegemos la seguridad de su hijo/a en la escuela
Padres y Cuidadores:
Después del recorrido, los padres se reunirán con un miembro del personal escolar para compartir más información sobre su hijo/a y sus esperanzas para su aprendizaje. También podrán hacer preguntas, apuntarse como voluntarios y conocer a otras familias.
Estudiantes de Kindergarten:
Después del recorrido, los niños harán una serie de evaluaciones cortas sobre sonidos, letras, formas, números, escritura y otras habilidades básicas de kinder. Estas evaluaciones son un requisito estatal para todos los estudiantes de Kindergarten. Cuanto antes conozca su maestra las habilidades de su hijo/a, mejor podrá ayudarle.
Inicio de Kindergarten (visita al salón de clases):
Además de las reuniones de Conexiones Familiares, nuestras maestras de Kindergarten abrirán sus salones el jueves 4 de septiembre y el viernes 5 de septiembre, de 9:30 a 11:00 a.m. o de 1:00 a 2:30 p.m., para un inicio suave llamado Inicio de Kindergarten. Los estudiantes conocerán a su maestra, visitarán el salón, harán nuevos amigos y aprenderán las expectativas del aula antes del primer día de clases. Este es un evento solo para estudiantes (los padres dejarán a sus hijos). Las familias podrán registrarse para el horario de la mañana o la tarde durante su reunión de Conexiones Familiares (2 de septiembre) o durante nuestra la Noche de Regreso a Clases el 28 de agosto.
