Orca Updates - March 15, 2025

Happy Saturday, Orca Learning Community!

We have had a very exciting week at Armin Jahr Elementary! Our Kindergarten and 4th grade classes went on field trips, Kindergarten to a live Science Show at the Admiral Theatre and 4th grade released the salmon they have been studying at school in Clear Creek.

Our Bremerton School Board visited Armin Jahr and had a conversation with our 4th and 5th grade student leadership, who shared what makes their school special and the legacy they want to leave as upper classmen.

Throughout the whole week, we celebrated our Education Support Professionals! Our dedicated team of paraeducators, nurses, office staff, CNS, and facilities help make our school a community. They often work out of the spotlight to ensure student safety, health, and success. Thank you, AJ classified staff! And THANK YOU to our Parent-Teacher organization for decorating, coordinating daily treats, and spoiling our staff this week!

Dear Armin Jahr Families:

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates as we progress with the design, planning, and early preparations for the construction of our new Armin Jahr Elementary School!

As you know, Armin Jahr and View Ridge will be built concurrently, with construction scheduled to begin in the fall. Our target move-in date for the new Armin Jahr school building is December 2026. Due to site limitations, Armin Jahr will be rebuilt on its current site, necessitating the demolition of the existing school.

This means we will be learning together in a secure interim campus adjacent to the East Bremerton Community Gym starting this fall. We want to share some key highlights with you now, and assure you that more detailed information will be provided throughout the spring and summer.

Interim campus highlights:

  • Modular buildings: As shown in the rendering below, in addition to the gym, the campus will feature comfortable modular buildings for classrooms, the office, the library, and more.

  • Modern facilities: Restrooms will have running water and flushable toilets. The gym will be used for PE and lunches.

  • Security: Student safety is our top priority. The campus will be secured with perimeter fencing and security cameras throughout.

  • Transportation: Transportation will be provided for all Armin Jahr students.

    • For safety reasons, walking to and from the interim campus will not be permitted.

    • Information on parent drop-off/pick up is forthcoming.

We understand you may have questions, and we encourage you to submit them here. We will continue to provide regular updates and detailed information throughout the spring and summer.

We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our students and families.

Thank you for your continued support!
