Orca Updates - March 22, 2025

Good morning, Orca Learning Community!

We had another eventful week at Armin Jahr Elementary!

Students are beginning to prepare for Student-Led Conferences that we will be hosting the week of March 31st. You should be receiving confirmation of your conference times from your child's teacher.

Our 3rd-5th graders attended the Seattle Symphony's performance at the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center. And a group of our 5th grade students attended the NatureBridge Outdoor Camp, spending three days learning about our PNW environment and watershed science. And our Friday, we all joined in a sing-along of the Rattlin' Bog led by Mrs. Craig at our Orca Friday Family Assembly!

Spring Picture Day will be Tuesday, April 1st.

Please remember- there is NO SCHOOL THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 28th (Teachers will be engaged in professional development and conference prep!)

Dear Armin Jahr Families:

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates as we progress with the design, planning, and early preparations for the construction of our new Armin Jahr Elementary School!

As you know, Armin Jahr and View Ridge will be built concurrently, with construction scheduled to begin in the fall. Our target move-in date for the new Armin Jahr school building is December 2026. Due to site limitations, Armin Jahr will be rebuilt on its current site, necessitating the demolition of the existing school.

This means we will be learning together in a secure interim campus adjacent to the East Bremerton Community Gym starting this fall. We want to share some key highlights with you now, and assure you that more detailed information will be provided throughout the spring and summer.

Interim campus highlights:

  • Modular buildings: As shown in the rendering below, in addition to the gym, the campus will feature comfortable modular buildings for classrooms, the office, the library, and more.

  • Modern facilities: Restrooms will have running water and flushable toilets. The gym will be used for PE and lunches.

  • Security: Student safety is our top priority. The campus will be secured with perimeter fencing and security cameras throughout.

  • Transportation: Transportation will be provided for all Armin Jahr students.

    • For safety reasons, walking to and from the interim campus will not be permitted.

    • Information on parent drop-off/pick up is forthcoming.

We understand you may have questions, and we encourage you to submit them here. We will continue to provide regular updates and detailed information throughout the spring and summer.

We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our students and families.

Thank you for your continued support!
