Good morning, Orca Learning Community!

And Happy Memorial Day! At yesterday's Orca Family Friday assembly, we honored the spirit of Memorial Day by welcoming the Junior ROTC from Bremerton High School, who presented the colors and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our 4th and 5th grade Student Leaders helped share the meaning of Memorial Day and the importance of remembering our veterans and those who protect our freedoms.

Meanwhile, we are wrapping up make-up sessions for state testing and are turning our focus toward an exciting final stretch of the school year. We have many special events coming up that we hope you’ll be a part of! On June 4, we invite you to our Farewell to Armin Jahr Community Event as we celebrate the history, memories, and spirit of our school before we transition to our interim site. On June 6, our Dual Language Showcase at the Community Gym will spotlight and celebrate our multiculturism. Then, on June 13, join us for our Family Picnic, where families are invited to enjoy lunch together on campus. And finally, we’ll close the year with two of our most beloved celebrations: 5th Grade Graduation on June 18, and Kindergarten Graduation on our last day of school, June 20.

We are so proud of all our Orcas and look forward to ending the year with connection, celebration, and community.

¡Buenos días, Comunidad de Aprendizaje Orca!

¡Y feliz Día de los Caídos! En nuestra asamblea de Orca Family Friday de ayer, honramos el espíritu del Día de los Caídos con la visita del Junior ROTC de Bremerton High School, quienes presentaron la bandera e hicieron el juramento a la bandera junto a nosotros. Nuestros líderes estudiantiles de 4.º y 5.º grado ayudaron a compartir el significado de este día y la importancia de recordar a nuestros veteranos y a quienes protegen nuestras libertades.

Mientras tanto, estamos finalizando las sesiones de recuperación para las evaluaciones estatales y enfocándonos en una emocionante recta final del año escolar. ¡Tenemos muchos eventos especiales que esperamos puedan acompañarnos! El 4 de junio, los invitamos a nuestro Evento de Despedida a la Comunidad de Armin Jahr, donde celebraremos la historia, los recuerdos y el espíritu de nuestra escuela antes de mudarnos a nuestro sitio provisional. El 6 de junio, nuestro Festival de Lenguaje Dual en el Gimnasio Comunitario destacará y celebrará nuestro multiculturalismo. Luego, el 13 de junio, acompáñenos a nuestro Picnic Familiar, donde las familias están invitadas a compartir el almuerzo con sus estudiantes aquí en la escuela. Y finalmente, cerraremos el año con dos de nuestras celebraciones más queridas: la Graduación de 5.º grado el 18 de junio, y la Graduación de Kindergarten el último día de clases, el 20 de junio.

Estamos muy orgullosos de todos nuestros Orcas y esperamos cerrar el año con conexión, celebración y comunidad.

In addition, with the big move coming up Armin Jahr staff have a big job ahead of them packing. If you have the time, please reach out to your student’s teacher to see if any support is needed.

Our District receives funding through Title I, Part A, a federal program that provides extra support to help students succeed in school. This program helps us offer additional instruction and resources so all students can meet challenging state academic standards and close learning gaps.

Here’s how we currently support students through Title I:

• Small group instruction and interventions

• Targeted, specialized teaching

• Ongoing progress monitoring

• Teacher-student conferences focused on academic goals

• Activities that engage parents and families

As we begin planning for next school year, we want your input. Your feedback helps us ensure our Title I program meets the needs of your student and your family in meaningful ways.
