Dear families and Kindergarten students-

We are so excited to begin this journey with you and your child- it’s a special time filled with learning, discovery, and new friendships. This year, our school will be located at our Interim Site, connected to the Bremerton East Community Gym, while our new school building is under construction. You can find more details and updates on our school website, and be sure to check your email and our Facebook page for ongoing back-to-school information.

As part of our Welcome to Kindergarten plan, families will sign up for Family Connections Meetings (WaKIDS appointments) during Back to School Night on August 28. Family Connection sessions will take place on Tuesday, September 2, offering a chance for students to complete early assessments while parents meet with kindergarten teachers. On Thursday and Friday (September 4 & 5), students will join us for Kindergarten Kick-Off,short Classroom Experiences, in either a morning (9:30–11:00) or afternoon (1:00–2:30) session (transportation will be the responsibility of the family). We can’t wait to meet you and launch a joyful and successful year together!

Queridas familias y estudiantes de Kindergarten- 

¡Estamos muy emocionados de comenzar este viaje con ustedes y sus hijos! Es un momento especial lleno de aprendizaje, descubrimientos y nuevas amistades. Este año, nuestra escuela estará ubicada en nuestro Sitio Provisional, conectado con el Gimnasio Comunitario del Este de Bremerton, mientras se construye nuestro nuevo edificio escolar. Como parte de nuestro plan de Bienvenida al Kindergarten, las familias se inscribirán para las Reuniones de Conexión Familiar (citas de WaKIDS) durante la Noche de Regreso a Clases el 28 de agosto. Las sesiones de Conexión Familiar se llevarán a cabo el martes 2 de septiembre, y ofrecerán la oportunidad de que los estudiantes completen evaluaciones iniciales mientras los padres se reúnen con los maestros de kindergarten. As we get ready to welcome your newest fish to school there can be many changes, concerns and wonderings. The Kindergarten Teachers will be hosting our incoming Kindergarteners and their families for Family Connections Meetings on September 2nd, 9:00 to 5:30. You and your child will sign up for a 1-hour time slot.

During this time you will: 

• Meet Kindergarten teachers and School staff
• Tour the school 
• Learn about Transportation (School bus routes, Parent Pick-up/Drop off, or Safe Walking routes)
• Learn about school breakfast and lunch
• Learn about childcare options for before or after school
• Learn about school supplies
• Learn about how our school keeps your child safe

Caregivers/Parents: 

            After the tour parents will meet with a school staff member to give us some more in-depth information about your child and your hopes for their learning while in school. In addition you will be able to ask specific questions about school, sign up to be a volunteer and meet other parents. 

Kindergartners:

             After the tour students will receive a series of short tests in sounds, letters, shapes, numbers, writing, and other Kinder type skills. These assessments are a statewide requirement for all kindergarten students and the sooner your child's teacher knows their abilities the sooner they can meet your child's needs. 

Kindergarten Kick-Off (Classroom Exposure): 

 In addition to the Family Connections meetings, our Kindergarten Teachers are opening up their classrooms on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th, from 9:30 - 11:00 OR 1:00-2:30 for students to have a “soft start” through our Kindergarten Kick-off classroom exposure day. Students will meet their teacher, visit their classrooms and meet some friends in a smaller class setting while also learning classroom expectations prior to the first day of school. This is a drop-off event. Parents will be able to sign up for the morning or afternoon session using the form linked below, during their Family Connections on September 2nd, and during our school wide Back to School Night on August 28th.
