This week we celebrated National School Counselor Week, and I want to send a huge thank you to Mrs. Walston for the care, compassion, positive attitude, and steady support she provides every day to our students, families, and staff!  We are so lucky to have her as part of our Orca Learning Community, her work truly makes a difference!

We also officially kicked off the second semester, marking the halfway point of the 2025-26 school year! It’s a great moment to pause and reflect on all we’ve accomplished together during the first half of the year on our Interim Campus! We learned brand new routines for drop off, for going to recess and learning a new campus layout. We had minor flooding and major rainy dismissal (thank you to our BSD Facilities for coming so often!). We increased our daily step counts and enjoyed rays of sunshine walking between portables- our students and staff have shown flexibility, perseverance, and pride in Armin Jahr as we moved through this transition!

There is so much to celebrate from Semester 1!

¡Feliz sábado, familias de Armin Jahr!

Esta semana celebramos la Semana Nacional de la Consejera Escolar, y quiero enviar un enorme agradecimiento a la Sra. Walston por el cuidado, la compasión, la actitud positiva y el apoyo constante que brinda todos los días a nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal. ¡Somos muy afortunados de tenerla como parte de nuestra Comunidad de Aprendizaje Orca; su trabajo realmente marca la diferencia!

También dimos inicio oficialmente al segundo semestre, ¡marcando la mitad del año escolar 2025–26! Es un excelente momento para hacer una pausa y reflexionar sobre todo lo que hemos logrado juntos durante la primera mitad del año en nuestro campus temporal. Aprendimos nuevas rutinas para la llegada y el recreo, y a movernos por un nuevo diseño del campus. Enfrentamos algunas inundaciones menores y salidas bajo lluvias intensas (¡gracias al equipo de Instalaciones del BSD por venir tan seguido!). Aumentamos nuestros pasos diarios y disfrutamos de los rayos de sol al caminar entre los portátiles. Nuestros estudiantes y el personal han demostrado flexibilidad, perseverancia y orgullo por Armin Jahr durante esta transición.

This spring, our 5th grade students get to attend the Nature Bridge Outdoor learning experience- three days (and 2 nights!) of time with our 5th grade team learning environmental science standards, exploring our PNW natural resources, and building stronger relationships and memories that will last a lifetime! This trip is free for students! Registration packets have been sent home, but additional ones are available or you can register online: NatureBridge Registration English

Esta primavera, nuestros estudiantes de 5.º grado tendrán la oportunidad de asistir a la experiencia de aprendizaje al aire libre de NatureBridge: ¡tres días (y dos noches!) junto a nuestro equipo de 5.º grado aprendiendo los estándares de ciencias ambientales, explorando los recursos naturales del Noroeste del Pacífico (PNW) y fortaleciendo relaciones y creando recuerdos que durarán toda la vida. ¡Este viaje es gratuito para los estudiantes! Los paquetes de inscripción ya fueron enviados a casa; sin embargo, hay copias adicionales disponibles o pueden inscribirse en línea: Inscripción a NatureBridge espanol.

Bremerton School District is committed to supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral health of students. The insights gathered from SEL surveys are invaluable to school staff, as they help to better understand students' emotional well-being and social interactions. This data plays a crucial role in creating supportive environments and targeted interventions that foster student success. This information will help schools and staff understand the needs of students at both the individual and school level. 

Families who wish to opt out of the SEL survey, should contact their child's homeroom teacher or counselor to express this decision prior to 3/9/26. The teacher or counselor will guide them through the opt-out process and ensure the student is excluded from the survey. It is important for families to communicate their request before the survey is administered to ensure it is processed in time. Afterward, families will receive confirmation that the student will not participate in the survey.

El Distrito Escolar de Bremerton está comprometido a apoyar la salud social, emocional y conductual de los estudiantes. La información recopilada a través de las encuestas de Aprendizaje Socioemocional (SEL, por sus siglas en inglés) es invaluable para el personal escolar, ya que les ayuda a comprender mejor el bienestar emocional de los estudiantes y sus interacciones sociales. Estos datos desempeñan un papel fundamental en la creación de entornos de apoyo y de intervenciones específicas que fomentan el éxito estudiantil. Esta información ayudará a las escuelas y al personal a comprender las necesidades de los estudiantes tanto a nivel individual como a nivel escolar.

Las familias que deseen excluir a su hijo/a de la encuesta SEL deben comunicarse con el/la maestro/a de aula o el/la consejero/a escolar antes del 3/9/26 para expresar esta decisión. El/la maestro/a o consejero/a les guiará en el proceso de exclusión y se asegurará de que el/la estudiante no participe en la encuesta. Es importante que las familias comuniquen su solicitud antes de que se administre la encuesta para que pueda procesarse a tiempo. Posteriormente, las familias recibirán una confirmación de que el/la estudiante no participará en la encuesta.
