Happy Saturday, Orca Learning Community!

And thank you to our families who helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week this past week! I cannot say thank you enough to our incredible staff, who continue to show up each and every day through this unique and sometimes wonky transition year. Because of their dedication and heart, our students have been able to come to school each day on our interim campus and continue building such a strong community together. The staff at Armin Jahr Elementary School is truly next level, and I am so proud and thankful to work alongside them every day!

Also- shout out to to Nurse Bettina! This past Wednesday was Nurse Appreciation Day, and Bettina is our incredible nurse and a part of the heartbeat of our office. We are so incredibly thankful for the Band-Aids and ice packs and the care she brings everyday.

Lastly- Happy Mother's Day to the amazing moms and mother figures in our Armin Jahr community! Thank you for the countless ways you support, encourage, love, and advocate for our students (and staff!). We are so thankful for the care you bring to our school and our community. We hope you feel celebrated and appreciated this weekend (and every day)- you deserve it! 🌺

¡Feliz sábado, comunidad de aprendizaje Orca!

¡Y gracias a nuestras familias que ayudaron a celebrar la Semana de Agradecimiento a los Maestros esta última semana! No puedo agradecer lo suficiente a nuestro increíble personal, que continúa presentándose todos los días durante este año de transición tan único y a veces un poco caótico. Gracias a su dedicación y gran corazón, nuestros estudiantes han podido venir a la escuela cada día en nuestro campus temporal y seguir construyendo juntos una comunidad tan fuerte. ¡El personal de Armin Jahr Elementary School realmente está a otro nivel, y me siento muy orgullosa y agradecida de trabajar junto a ellos todos los días!

¡También queremos reconocer a la enfermera Bettina! Este pasado miércoles fue el Día de Agradecimiento a las Enfermeras, y Bettina es nuestra increíble enfermera y una parte fundamental del corazón de nuestra oficina. Estamos muy agradecidos por las curitas, las bolsas de hielo y el cuidado que brinda todos los días.

Anything but a backpack day

This week, students in grades 3–5 will continue their state testing, including the Smarter Balanced assessments in math and English language arts (ELA). Fifth grade students will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). These assessments are one of many ways we understand student learning and progress toward grade-level standards, and they help inform how we support and extend learning for all students.

Testing will take place during the first two weeks of May, with additional make-up opportunities the week of May 18th. Most students will complete these assessments online during the school day. Esta semana, los estudiantes de 3.º a 5.º grado continuarán con sus evaluaciones estatales, incluyendo las pruebas Smarter Balanced de matemáticas y artes del lenguaje en inglés (ELA). Los estudiantes de 5.º grado también tomarán la Evaluación Integral de Ciencias del Estado de Washington (WCAS).
