Help Support Our Schools: Turn in Your Orange CNEEB Form!

No, we aren't talking about the Thneeds from the Lorax—we’re talking about the bright ORANGE Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit (CNEEB) application sent home with students this September!

While all BSD students automatically receive free breakfast and lunch every day through the Community Eligibility Provision, completing this single household form is still vital. Based on family feedback, we are collecting paper forms again this year rather than using SkywardQ.

Why your form matters:

  • Ensures essential funding for our schools: Helps BSD secure essential state and federal educational funding for programs that serve all students in the District.

  • Benefits for your family: Keeps your household eligible for Summer EBT (S-EBT) and unlocks discounts on ASB cards, field trips, and school activities (when paired with a Consent to Share form - see below).

How to submit: You only need to complete one form per family. Fill out the orange paper form sent home with your student and return it to your school’s main office as soon as possible—or download a copy to print and submit.

Thank you for helping us keep our schools strong and fully-funded!

Coming soon: Impact Aid forms

Every year the Bremerton School District must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds compensate the District for the loss of local tax dollars due to families living in tax exempt federal property in the Bremerton area. Watch for information from your child's school later in October about this important process.

Q: Why don't we collect Impact Aid and CNEEB forms at the same time?

A: While both forms are crucial, they serve different purposes. With Impact Aid, we are required to follow the federal government's specific timeline for collecting that information. The CNEEB form is collected earlier because it's used to verify families' eligibility for a number of important benefits, including free ASB cards and discounts on school fees. This allows us to provide those benefits to our students right away, without waiting for the federal Impact Aid window later in the fall.

Reminder! Free ASB Cards & Activity Fee Discounts 🎟️

Families who qualify for meal benefits, Basic Food, TANF, or FDPIR can get free ASB cards and reduced fees for field trips and school events!

Important: To receive fee discounts, families must submit BOTH required forms:

All BSD students receive free school meals regardless of income, but both forms are required to unlock activity fee waivers. Turn in your completed CNEEB and/or Consent to Share form at your school's front office or email it to cns@bremertonschools.org.

Need help or a printed copy of either form? Call Child Nutrition Services at 360-473-4717.

National School Bus Safety Week

Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes

National School Bus Safety Week (October 19–23, 2026) provides us an opportunity to highlight how we can work together to keep every student safe on their journey to and from school! Whether your child rides the bus, walks, or you drive near school zones, please keep these essential safety tips in mind:

  • Students waiting at the bus stop: Arrive at least five minutes early. Stand back at least three giant steps (6 feet) from the curb while waiting.

  • Students boarding & exiting: Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the driver signals it’s safe before stepping on or off. Always cross in front of the bus—never behind it.

  • Drivers: Remember that yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop, and red flashing lights with an extended stop arm mean stop—it’s the law. Never pass a stopped school bus!

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our streets and bus stops safe every single day! Learn more here!

Be prepared before the snow flies!

Now that it is officially fall, we want to make sure your family has a plan in place before the first snow day or late start!

We aim to make any decisions regarding school delays or closures by 5:30 a.m. Remember: No news is good news! If you don’t see an alert from us, schools and buses are operating on a regular schedule. (Note: We do not send early morning "robo calls" for winter weather announcements—look for ParentSquare alerts, website updates, social media posts, or local news!).

What you can do now to get ready:

  1. Check your contact information in SkywardQ and your ParentSquare notification settings: Ensure your contact details are up-to-date so you receive email, text, or app notifications from us!

  2. Review delay schedules: Know what a 2-hour or 3-hour delay looks like for your student's school.

  3. Visit our Winter Weather Communication page to review full details of our winter weather communication plan.
