Orca Updates 10/10/26

Good morning, Orca Learning Community!

With the rain this Friday, it is really beginning to feel like Fall! The character trait for October is Responsibility. At school, we’re helping students learn what responsibility looks like in everyday moments, from taking care of materials and being ready to learn to following through and taking accounatbility in our actions when we make a mistake.

In schools, October is often a challenging stretch. Grade-level academics pick up and become more challening and the newness of the school year wears off- plus excitement builds as we get closer to Halloween! Students may need extra reminders, encouragement, and practice to manage big feelings and make thoughtful choices, considering how they impact those around them. These are skills we’re still teaching, right alongside reading and math!

At home, it's helpful to continue keeping a consisten routine and reflecting with your student on their day, asking “How did you show responsibility this week?” or “What did you do when something felt hard?” The partnership between school and home is key for supporting all of our learners!

And we are entering an eventful season- please take note of the dates below, we have spirit days this week and Fall picture day is THIS Thursday!

Upcoming dates to remember:

October 12: Indigenous People's Day (no school)

October 13- 16: Spirit Week celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

October 15: Picture Day

October 23: Rising School Assembly

October 29: Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat

October 30: NO SCHOOL

November 5-6: Conference days, NO SCHOOL

Free Lunch Forms

Thanks to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), all Bremerton School District students receive free breakfast and lunch daily!

Instead of traditional meal applications, we now collect the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) form. Completing this form ensures our district receives the full state funding needed for key academic programs. Additionally, families seeking Summer EBT (S-EBT) benefits must have a current CNEEB form on file.

Over the last two weeks, we distributed ORANGE CNEEB forms. Please complete and return this form to your child’s school ASAP.

For assistance, please email CNS@BremertonSchools.org or call Alexis Esquivel-Sawyer (360-473-4717) or Ashley Guerrero (360-473-4716). Thank you for helping us support our schools!

¡Gracias por ayudarnos a apoyar a nuestras escuelas!
